Chinese arts and crafts master
Yang Shuhua
Born in 1954, Yang Shuhua was conferred the title of National Master of Arts and Crafts of China in 2012, one of the nation’s highest honours for ceramic‑art practitioners. Drawing upon the ancient Chinese artistic philosophy *“learn from nature, draw inspiration from within”*, he has devoted decades to landscape‑themed porcelain creation. He merges the brushwork of traditional Chinese ink‑wash painting with Jingdezhen underglaze‑blue porcelain, forging a distinctive personal language that balances classical heritage and contemporary spirit
Many of his landmark works are collected by prestigious institutions, including Zhongnanhai Ziguang‑Pavilion and China National Arts and Crafts Museum, and have won top awards at major national and international art fairs. Each piece released from his studio carries complete provenance records: creation background, authentic studio seal, exhibition history and collection documentation. These archives enable international collectors to fully appreciate the cultural weight behind every porcelain artwork.
The Art of Porcelain Making
Earth Nurtured, Forged by Fire
A fine porcelain landscape is born from the land of Jingdezhen. From clay refining to kiln completion, human hands dominate every step. Drawing upon traditional Chinese ink art, Master Yang pours mountains, clouds and rivers onto clay. Man‑made craft mingles with the mystery of kiln‑fire, each finished work is one of a kind.
Body|Soul of Jingdezhen Clay
High‑grade kaolin and porcelain stone go through washing, kneading and long‑term aging. The purified clay gains softness and whiteness, preparing the canvas for landscape painting.
Form|Hand‑wrought Shape
All blanks are hand‑thrown and hand‑constructed. Machine‑produced blanks are rejected. Every curve and flat surface is adjusted by craftsmen’s hands, giving unique temperament to each vessel and porcelain panel.
Surface|Ink‑Landscape on Porcelain
Master Yang transfers the spirit of ink‑wash painting onto raw porcelain. Mountains, mists and flowing water take shape under his brush. There is no printing or copying. Transparent glaze locks the painting safely beneath its layer.
Firing|Kiln‑Fire Alchemy
Even with decades of firing experience, high‑temperature fire holds unpredictable power. Many pieces are lost inside the kiln. Only those that survive receive the final spiritual gift given by fire.

Conceived as a long handscroll in the blue-and-green landscape tradition, Spring Landscape of Rivers and Mountains presents a sweeping vision of China's mountains and rivers.
More than 30 sets interpret the production through blue-and-white traditions and vividly coloured new-colour painting, spanning cups, tea ware, tableware, vases, and sculptural objects.
