Sailing with Fair Winds” Blue-and-White Landscape Master Cup

Description

This Master Cup is an original hand-painted work by Master Yang Shuhua, created in the summer of the Bingshen Year (2016). The body is decorated with a landscape using the traditional “blue-and-white dividing water” technique. Distant mountains, expansive waters, and a lone sailboat gliding with the wind are rendered in varying shades of cobalt blue. The composition exhibits masterful use of negative space. The cup is inscribed with “Sailing with Fair Winds” and “Painted by Yang Shuhua in Jingdezhen, Summer of Bingshen Year”, accompanied by the artist’s red seal.

The “Master Cup” (主人杯) is a personal tea vessel, representing the owner’s taste and refinement. Measuring 4.5cm high and 8cm in diameter, it is perfectly sized for a comfortable grip, ideal for daily tea rituals, and a collectible display item. Master Yang’s works are held in Zhongnanhai’s Ziguangge Pavilion, the Chinese National Museum of Arts and Crafts, and the Great Hall of the People.
