Blue and white landscape ‘Spring Scenery of Jiangnan’ lidded bowl

Description

This lidded bowl is an original hand-painted work by Master Yang Shuhua, created in the summer of 2026. The painting is hand-drawn in blue and white, with cobalt blue layers that are clearly defined. The distant mountains shrouded in mist, flowing rivers, sloped stones, and trees are all inspired by the traditional Jiangnan landscape. The body and lid of the bowl are inscribed with “Spring Scenery of Jiangnan” and “Summer of the Year of Bingshen,” accompanied by the master’s red seal. The glaze is glossy and smooth, with the blue and white painting sinking into the porcelain, perfectly blending with the high-white clay body.

Lidded bowls are a classic type of vessel in Chinese tea culture, both practical for tea use and highly ornamental as elegant desk pieces. Master Yang Shuhua’s works are collected by institutions such as the Ziguang Pavilion in Zhongnanhai, the China Arts and Crafts Museum, and the Great Hall of the People. His blue and white landscape pieces are considered a milestone in the field of modern Jingdezhen ceramics.
