Monumental “Snow Landscape” Blue-and-White Vase

Description

This monumental vase is an original hand-painted work by Master Yang Shuhua, created in the summer of the Yisi Year. The body is meticulously decorated with a snow landscape using the traditional “blue-and-white dividing water” technique. Distant mountains, snow-covered banks, frozen rivers, and bare winter trees are rendered in varying shades of cobalt blue, utilizing the porcelain’s white body to represent the snow. The composition exhibits masterful use of negative space. The neck is adorned with a pale blue glaze. The vessel is inscribed with the artist’s signature “Painted by Yang Shuhua in Jingdezhen, Summer of Yisi Year” and his red seal.

Standing at 35cm high and 31cm in diameter, this is a magnificent statement piece with exceptional presence. Master Yang’s works are held in Zhongnanhai’s Ziguangge Pavilion, the Chinese National Museum of Arts and Crafts, and the Great Hall of the People.
